Fear of public speaking
You are sitting
on some public presentation, watching hansom dynamic person presenting in front
of all those people. You think how lucky he or she is, having that skill since
he’s/she’s birth. Yes, you think that effective and smooth public speakers are
born to be.
You cannot be more far away from the true. Nobody is
born to be something. Yes, certain affinity or talent, but without working and
polishing that talent, nothing can be achieved. Every public presenter is
growing through he’s / she’s presentation. Every presentation is a step ahead
toward effective speaker. Every famous public presenter or speaker would admit
that sometimes they have “something in their stomach going up and down and all
around”. They are nervous too, just like everybody is in front very important
presentation. But difference with effective presenters is that they have learnt
ability and way to sort and channelize nervous negative trends in their body and
transfer it into effective positive stimulus. It is their guide toward positive
outcome of their goal – effective presentation.
To speak in front of audience, no matter how small, for
ordinary people, is something that they would rather avoid. But there is no need
to panic. Some amount of fear is positive to woke up adrenalin in you and help
you focus on your goal. Use that fear and make it your ally, not your worst
enemy. Confront your fears – is first thing that every psychiatrist will tell
you. By confronting, you have no fear, at least no fear that could bring you
down. Everybody imagine their self that will say or do something embarrassing,
something not common and inadequate for the situation. But guess what? Life is
combination of adequate semi adequate and inadequate situations. Nothing that
you can say or do in small amount of time can ruin your carrier in a blink of an
eye. Making mistake will make you more human and closer to your audience. Don’t
be afraid, you cannot make such a fool of yourself and get public rejection in
such short time. One of the fears of public speakers is imagined situation that
you will not know to answer correct on the questions asked. When you work hard,
you know all the answers needed, just let them out.
People that frequently perform public presentation,
have some tricks and tips to give you to make your presentation more effective.
Several of those tips will relate to feel the place in which you are going to
present. Take a walk across the room when there is no audience, try to breed
deeply as strong as you can and visualize your successful and effective public
presentation.
Accept in a blink of an eye that there is small
possibility you will look like some kind of street fool that everybody laughs.
And then tell to your self - people love fools because they produce laugh and
joy. Those are positive feelings. And just in the end tell yourself that foolish
situation with you in a lead role is not probable to happen. It probably won’t
happen.
